Closing In

So we are a little over a week away and things are really getting exciting. While our feature on the news was entertaining and special, it opened my eyes to a new feeling.

I always love hearing people compliment my twin bro-- but sometimes I let it pass without thinking. What can I say? To me he's just like any other 26 year old. Lately it has been much more impactful. Since I am a part of this special endeavor, compliments and well wishes have hit me deeper. It is truly amazing to see what an impact Kyle has on people. I am especially proud to be a part of this race and from all if us on Team KPeasey: Thank you!! It does NOT go without notice and thanks. See y'all at the finish line!!

On the eve of the Charles Harris Race

Hello. I hope everybody had a great week. I am so grateful for each and everyone of you's support throughout this process. We have decided to pick up an extra race to get practicing with our new jogger. We will be participating in the Charles Harris Race for Leukemia. It should be a blast. The jogger is very cool, and I will post a picture in just a few. This will be a great experience for Team Pease as we try to work out the kinks and make sure that I am completely comfortable in the jogger.

Team Pease wishes everybody a great weekend, and below is another chapter of "What does the KPeasey Bracelet mean to you" from a very good friend of mine, my man, Pauly P. He has been so kind in naming his son after me. So, little K, here's to you!

The K Peasey bracelet means more to me than I could ever put in words. It symbolizes everything that can be accomplished by a human being if they put their minds to it and it also shows the most difficult adversities that life throws at you can be overcome with dedication, persistence, and perseverance. Whenever I need inspiration for myself or others I look at the Blue Bracelet that has been on my wrist since June of 2009. The Blue Bracelet to me represents Kyle Pease and every amazing quality he stands for. Kyle has to deal with hardships on a daily basis that most could not even imagine yet he still lives each day to the fullest and makes the most out if it. We all love you and strive to be the man you have become. You are truly the most inspirational person I have ever met and I am damn proud to wear the K Peasey bracelet on my wrist every day. Keep on keeping on my man.

Just do IT

There was a Nike ad that someone recently sent me that I found rather fitting for the journey we are on right now...
"All your life you are told the things you cannot do. All your life they will say you're not good enough or strong enough or talented enough; they will say you're the wrong height or the wrong weight or the wrong type to play this or be this or achieve this. THEY WILL TELL YOU NO, a thousand times no, until all the no's become meaningless. All your life they will tell you no, quite firmly and very quickly. AND YOU WILL TELL THEM YES."
Last week Kyle gave a speech to a group of students at Woodward Academy where both Evan and I graduated from. Kyle read this quote aloud to the students and then explained that we all have a disability in life. We all have something that we feel holds us back or that we allow to hold us back. All of his life, Kyle has told people YES! He has not accepted "no" as an answer and has attacked the world with an energy that rubs off on us all.

So what does all this mean? It means we must push harder in order to achieve our goals, and that we work to tell everyone "Yes!" So we tie a bucket to our waist and we swim.

We grab the bucket so that we can get ready to pull Kyle in his new boat. They cannot tell us "no" can they?

And what better way to give Evan and Kyle a surprise birthday party but with a new toy to get on the road together! Gonna be hard to tell Kyle "no" with his new wheels for the race.

Evan and Kyle will be testing the new "jogger" this week and the three of us decided to add a double secret race and give it a test run at the Charles Harris 10K this Saturday. The race director said there was a time limit to finish this run. Sounds like another "no" to me?

But it's not all race business. We found time to get together at Neighbor's with friends for the big 26 for Evan and Kyle and last week, we checked out Evan play a little music with Parker Smith and the Bandwidth



So be sure to say YES and not hold back and if you have some time feel free to share the road!!!

What Does the KPeasey Bracelet mean to you?

This entry is from a very dear friend of mine, my brother's girlfriend. Evan and Brent will definitely be back on the blog this week. Thank you for all your support during Walking with KPeasey as we are inching closer and closer. More to come soon.

The beauty of the Walking for KPeasey bracelet is that it means so many things to so many different people. For me, it’s a reminder to appreciate all my blessings and stop stressing about the small stuff in life. While Kyle’s daily life takes much more planning and effort than most, he often stops and wonders how he can contribute more to the world around him. So when I glance at a KPeasey bracelet, it’s a cue to think…what else can I do to make today better? It makes me stop and think if I’ve thanked my family and friends for making my life more wonderful, the same way Kyle vocalizes his love and appreciation for his support system. A dear friend once diagnosed Kyle as having a “servant’s heart,” in that he always wants to do more, do better, live bigger. I think the Walking for KPeasey bracelets are a call to action for all of us to do the same.

As I watch the Pease brothers train for their next big adventure, the desire born out of a simple wish to spend more time together, I know that they’re implementing all those grand ideas that the bracelet inspires. It’s a reminder that the small things in life like spending time with loved ones, making goals, and facing challenges can make the biggest impact.
